A few thoughts from us at Woven Woven.
For years, we’ve watched wellness culture become increasingly focused on looking after adults. From magnesium rituals and sleep trackers to temperature-regulating sheets, we’ve become more intentional about how we care for ourselves. We’ve also learned to read labels more carefully in almost every corner of our lives — scrutinising skincare ingredients, researching supplements and turning over food packaging. Yet, for a long time, that same thoughtfulness seemed to stop right at the nursery door.
In the children’s aisle, we're remarkably easy to be charmed by playful prints and cute cartoon characters, forgetting to look beneath the surface. We get caught up in the exterior look, but overlook the elements that matter most: the content and the construction.
What is actually inside the blanket? How is it made? And what are our children resting against for hours every night?
Designed with Children in Mind
From day one, every design decision began with what young bodies actually need. We focus on gentle sensory weight, breathable fibres such as Certified Organic Cotton and Cooling Bamboo, and designs thoughtfully scaled for smaller bodies.
For us, innovation doesn't always mean adding more layers or complexity. Sometimes, it means stripping away the unnecessary and rethinking comfort from the fibre up. That’s the thinking behind our bead-free weighted blankets, where the weight is integrated directly into the knitted fabric, rather than relying on separate beads or loose fillings.
This is our version of 'clean sleep wellness'.
Children's Wellness Is Becoming More Sensory
We’re seeing a growing awareness of children’s sensory needs — from the popularity of fidget toys to the rise of sensory-friendly public spaces. Parents and educators are increasingly recognising how texture, touch and physical surroundings can influence a child’s comfort and emotional wellbeing.
Parents often report this small change of weight to a child’s sensory surroundings made a difference to how their child experience the day. They claim that the weighted pressure helped their children unwind after a noisy or busy day, navigate big emotions and allow them to settle to sleep better.
We also recognise that a weighted blanket isn’t right for every child. For some families, however, it’s one option they explored and worked!
